Truecoco Ghana will scale across multiple sites across West Africa

Truecoco will work across multiple agricultural value chains throughout West Africa, driving durable carbon removal, working with smallholder farmers to achieve an additional revenue, and reduce the cost of organic inputs

Site 1, Tikobo One site, Western Region, Ghana

Truecoco’s first site is based in the Western Region of Ghana. It will be the first industrial-scale biochar facility in Ghana, and the first globally to use coconut husk as the primary feedstock.

The site is situated within 50k HAs of virgin coconut farms. This is an established farmer network that Truecoco has worked with since 2017. Truecoco will source coconut husks from the farmer network to make biochar. The biochar will be made into a soil amendment that can be returned to smallholder farmers throughout the region.

The site capacity can reach up to 7.5k MTs of biochar per year, removing more than 15k MTs of CO2e per year. The site will be certified under the Puro standard.
